Train the Trainers, pediatric surgery in Rwanda, A RI Global Grant project
Feb 06, 2024 12:00 PM
I am a retired pediatric orthopedic surgeon originally from Ottawa, Canada. I received my orthopedic residency training there and did extra fellowship training in Toronto in pediatric orthopedics, scoliosis, and musculoskeletal tumor surgery. I moved my family to Las Vegas to begin a 19 year private practice in 1993. I had a great 19 years during which time I developed a spine implant system and several other innovations. I patented a system of linked lever scoliosis derotation surgery in 2004. I licensed my patents to Biomet Spine Company and royalties permitted me to retire in 2014 and pursue my passion of training in developing countries, where there is a huge unmet need. I began doing training missions in developing countries in 2000. |
