Dr. Maxie Gluckman is the inaugural
director of Friends of FUNDESUR and a
long-standing international community
development leader.
Fundesur is a non-profit focused on
community development and sustainable
social impact in Honduras. Trilingual in
English Spanish and French, her career
span over 15 years of bridging global
education research with a community led
practice.
From the start of her career as a bilingual elementary school teacher to
her research and advocacy work with migrant and refugee communities,
her passion for education and equitable opportunities has long driven her
global service and partnership with Rotary.
For 12 years, she has championed community-led work in Honduras,
LAC and Africa in addition, she has advised major international
humanitarian groups, including UNICEF, Save the Children, and the
International Rescue Committee (IRC).
Dr Gluckman graduated with honors from UCLA in 2011, She received her
master’s degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from Wilmington
University in 2013 and in 2021 her doctorate in Transformative
