WALTER DEWHURST MEMORIAL AWARD

Walter Dewhurst (1915 - 2004) served more than a half-century in the Rotary Club of La Jolla. A memorial in his honor was established in 2005. This award assures that the loyal, selfless, steady service epitomized by Walter Dewhurst will not be forgotten.
in order to qualify for this award, the recipient:
1. Has been a member in good standing of the Rotary Club of La Jolla for not less then 10 years.
2. Has, in a number of specifically identified ways, contributed in personal service above and beyond normal expectations to the purpose, objectives and principals of Rotary.
3. Must have made significant and unique contributions in personal service to the local community.
4. Among peers, must be recognized as a leader, a doer, and someone who gets things done.
5. Must have personal attributes and characteristics identifying the recipient as a truly outstanding individual.
6. The Award Committee shall be Members of the Board of Directors and shall consist of three members including the chairman to be appointed by the president not later the June 1 of each year.
7. The recommendation of the Award Committee must be approved by the President with final approval by the Board of Directors.
8. In the event there is no fully qualified candidate in any particular year the President and the Board of Directors are under no obligation to present this Award.
